Michelle demato

I provide counseling services to adults (18+) dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, confident, and capable of managing everyday life. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about the next steps, therapy offers a safe space to process, explore, and grow.

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to each client’s needs. I meet you where you are, helping you build practical strategies to cope, heal, and make meaningful changes in your life. Having close family in the first responder community gives me insight into the unique stressors these roles can bring, so I can support clients who work in or are connected to high-stress professions.

What I Help With

I work with adults experiencing:

  • Stress and burnout that affects daily life

  • Anxiety, worry, or feeling “stuck”

  • Depression or low mood

  • Emotional effects of trauma or critical incidents

  • Relationship challenges or communication difficulties

  • Substance use concerns and coping strategies

  • Navigating career challenges and workplace stress

  • Life transitions and personal growth goals

Together, we focus on practical tools and strategies that improve emotional balance, resilience, and overall well-being.

Training & Credentials

  • Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling — Lewis University

  • Graduate practicum and internship in private practice, specializing in DUI and substance use counseling

  • Active involvement in behavioral health coalitions focused on substance use treatment and stigma reduction

A Little About Me

Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, exploring hobbies, and staying connected to the first responder community. These personal interests help me maintain balance so I can show up fully for my clients and bring energy, empathy, and focus to every session.
